Maple Leaf Adventures

Selected as an operator of “Best of the World” trips by National Geographic Traveler, Maple Leaf Adventures has pioneered conservation-focused, expedition cruises along the Inside Passage since 1986. With a reputation as one of the west coast’s top sustainable tour operators, its multi-day Alaska cruises give guests unique insight into the region’s natural wonders, often areas that were once under threat of destruction. Expeditions differ from your typical cruise ship; guests are immersed in the natural and cultural history of the world they are exploring, each day becoming more in tune with the rhythms of the coast. Small groups move between locations and live and dine aboard a classic, converted tugboat. She accommodates up to twelve guests with a crew of five, including a naturalist and chef.

Maple Leaf Adventures is an innovator in regenerative tourism. One of the first operators of small-boat travel in Alaska, BC’s Great Bear Rainforest and northwestern Vancouver Island, they allocate significant resources to support and build a conservation-based economy on the coast. Maple Leaf’s leaders are fuelled by their education in environmental studies and social responsibility. Their vision is to drive a made-on-the-coast, high-quality nature-based tourism industry, that has a symbiotic relationship with coastal ecosystems and cultures and integrates with both indigenous and western cultures along the coast.

Denali Photo Guides

Denali Photo Guides has been offering small group, instructional photography excursions since 2010. Tours are designed to benefit visitors to Denali National Park who have an interest in photographing the beautiful landscapes in Alaska. Tours travel in luxury trucks along the boundary of Denali National Park, into Broad Pass, and on the Denali Highway, stopping several times to get out and shoot pictures. Tours are typically 3 to 4 hours in duration. Guests may have their own camera, rent one from us, or they may bring a smart phone. No matter what type of gear guests have or what their skill level is, our guides help visitors progress as photographers. With a maximum of 4 participants per tour, our guides spend a significant amount of one-on-one time with each guest. In addition to photography, guides also provide information about the area’s natural history, geology & culture. The small group size allows guests the freedom to ask any question they want (as many times as they want!). The combination of the small group with our selection of pristine locations fosters a truly immersive experience leaving guests with a lasting impression of the vastness, wilderness, and specialness of the Denali area.

Boreal Journeys

Our passion is making our guests feel comfortable and connected in the northern Alaskan forest that we call home. We are a small-scale, family-run business focused on providing authentic experiences for our guests. We offer single or multi-day adventures dog sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing. We take only private groups of 1-4 people and customize the experience to each group’s desires to create unforgettable adventures.

We strive to live as close as we can to the place we’re in. We hunt, fish and grow much of our food for us and our dog family. We feed our guests healthy, homemade and local food. We do our best to use technology that doesn’t insulate us from a direct experience with our environment. On a trip with us, you will travel on trails we have cut, stay in tents we have sewn or cabins we have built and use gear that is made from and indigenous to the area we’re traveling in. We live in the place we guide, and we want to make sure that it is still just as beautiful and bountiful when we’re in the ground and future generations are tromping around.

Arctic Dog Adventure Co.

At Arctic Dog Adventure Co., we have a genuine interest in taking care of our clients, our community, and the distinctive landscapes of Northern Alaska. Our speciality is long distance travel by dog sled, providing low-impact access to pristine wilderness areas. We offer dog sled tours rooted in principles of sustainability, authenticity and “rustic luxury” — warm, comfortable accommodations in the most remote and wild places, and an emphasis on utilizing locally sourced ingredients and products. To us, ecotourism is about offering our clients a responsible, authentic Alaskan experience. Travel by dog team is an ideal way to realize this. Sled dogs have been part of the Northern landscape for millennia. Their thick fur, tough pads and indomitable desire to pull make them perfect companions in Northern travel and exploration.   Our dogs are the heart and soul of our operation. We pride ourselves on offering our huskies the highest standard of dog care possible. Guests who visit us will meet dogs that are happy and content. It brings us great joy to share our love and respect for our dogs, and the landscapes of Interior Alaska, with others.

Alaska Nature Guides

Join a great naturalist guide for a hike or custom day trip in the spectacular South Denali area. They’ll pick you up in Talkeetna for a 3-mile Talkeetna Lakes Hike or heli-hike, or meet them an hour north in Denali State Park for an easy Byers Lake Nature Walk or exhilarating Denali Wilderness Hike. Join a scheduled trip, or they can customize a private trip to fit your schedule, activity level, interests, and group. They specialize in custom trips for families, groups, photographers, and birders. Their trips feature the area’s most experienced guides, stunning views of Denali, and great wildlife. They’ll take you to pristine natural areas where their guests make a close connection to Alaska’s natural landscape while moving under their own power and using all five senses. They give back, supporting local community and conservation groups by donating time, money and materials to projects such as the building of a community playground, sponsoring the Youth Conservation Corps, and volunteer trail days. They teach Leave No Trace to youth groups and to their guests, and keep the areas they visit free of invasive plants and litter.

Alaska Wildland Adventures

Alaska is our home, and we’ve been committed to providing the highest quality trips from the beginning, over 40 years ago. We were among the first to offer raft explorations of the Kenai River into the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, and we pioneered small-group explorations from the protected areas of Kenai Fjords National Park and the Kenai Peninsula to Denali National Park and Preserve. We know all the areas we visit intimately. Today, we are proud to continue this tradition as Alaska’s leader in soft adventure trips. We believe smaller groups mean bigger experiences, better memories and more smiles.

Chugach Adventures

Chugach Adventures (formerly known as Chugach Adventure Guides and Class V Whitewater) was founded in 1996. The company explored & pioneered the Spencer Glacier area in 2000 and partnered with the Alaska Railroad starting in 2001 to offer trips via the Glacier Discovery Train to Spencer Glacier.
In the Fall of 2012, long-time Chugach guides and Girdwood locals, Melanee and Ari Stiassny, purchased the rafting business. Melanee & Ari share a passion for Alaskan adventure with their three kids. In winter 2015 /16, Chugach Adventures was awarded a ten year permit with the USFS Chugach National Forest to continue operating tours at Spencer Lake and are stoked to be now offering kayaking, overnight camping, heli hiking, and glacier salmon bakes at Spencer Glacier.

“We believe strongly in sharing our local stories and firsthand experiences of what we have seen and witnessed as Spencer Glacier has receded thru the years. We are committed to finding ways to protect our environment and aim to share our knowledge to our guests.”
